.all my favorite people are broken.

All my favorite people are broken
Believe me, my heart should know
Orphaned believers, skeptical dreamers, you're welcome
Yeah, you're safe right here, you don't have to go

i have a vision for one day this little blog being more than just a little blog.
a safe place for broken people.
a safe place for those in the darkness.
a place where women can find even just the faintest flicker of hope.
where somehow women can know you are not alone.
i'm here.
a whole community of broken people are here.
grasping to hang on.
but hanging on.
hanging on with you.
hanging on by making those calls saying - i'm going to hurt myself - i need help. pronto.
hanging on by sending hard emails.
hanging on does not have to look one specific way.
not even close.
Jesus came for the broken.
He did not come for the well, ya know? (mark 2:17)
and i'd say woe to the ones who think they have it right & promote ONE way of of "suffering well"/ one way of "living out the Gospel"/ one way of "getting it right in your parenting"/ and a host of other things & therefore kill the spirits of those who try to follow in their "way" & don't cut it.
they lead you FROM a God who became flesh not TO Him.
it.is.ok.to.be.broken.
our Lord was broken.
crushed.
taking on our infirmities.
a man of sorrows.
carrying our sorrows.
nothing in that says we are happy, shiny, perfectly rocking a pottery barn life people.
our sorrows.
ours.
He took ours.
let that sink in.
because we are broken.
and really - my favorites are.

He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
Isaiah 53:2-5

and if anyone has any fab ideas on how to help one another using this little blog - give me a shout out!
